Viva Las Vegas!

If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.  Ok, fine, but that doesn't apply to me.  I can't find anything nice to say about Las Vegas.  (Why do I come here then?!?)  It is excessive and commercialism at its finest.  The traffic is horrible.  The smoking in hotels is horrible.  The cost of everything is so elevated - $12 for a bar of soap?  REALLY?

So, now that that rant is out of the way - I visited Las Vegas today.  The weather was magnificent, and I love all the gorgeous palm trees along The Strip (I got to look at them for a long time while sitting in traffic!)  The buildings are quite magnificent, though I don't see any need for them.  The grounds around these beautiful hotels are meticulously manicured and beautiful.

This is Siegfried & Roy, and the tiger who tried to kill them!  They have a star on the sidewalk.

Too many people; too much money thrown away!

NOW we're talkin'!

Old style motel.

Creepy clown

I look like I am enjoying all this excess!

Pretty day, tho a tad warm.

Ok, so this is fun.  For 150-bucks, you can do this.

You go to the top of THIS building and get a big cord put on you.  Oh, fun.

(Jumper-guy in the little blue box)

You then JUMP off the building . . .

. . . and PRAY that the cord doesn't break.

Personally, I'd rather set my money on fire and throw it in the parking lot, but that's just me!

I have to say, the grounds around all the hotels in Las Vegas are BEAUTIFUL.  I have never seen such pretty flowers, trees and lawns.  That is one aspect of Vegas I really enjoyed.

BEAUTIFUL flowers.

This is the Venetian Hotel.  It was kinda cool inside - they had the ceiling painted like the sky so it seemed you were walking around Italy.  For $20 you can ride on a gondola and have a guy sing to you.  Again, I'll just throw my money in the parking lot!

I was SO hungry and stopped into this bakery for one of these beautiful cupcakes.  HOWEVER, they were not cupcakes, they were 20-dollar soaps.  No, I didn't buy one; I get free soap at my hotel!

The gondola ride

Doesn't that look fun?  Riding in a gondola in the 103-degree heat in a swimming pool.  I can't believe these people didn't ditch the boat and jump in the pool!

The casino.

The inside of the Venetian.  It was really pretty.

And, that concluded my fun day in Las Vegas, Nevada!
