Scenic Highway 12

SCENIC BYWAY 12 is one of the top drives through Utah:
"Highway 12  --  SOUTHERN UTAH:  If you had to see Utah in an afternoon, this would be the road to take. Starting in Panguitch, SR-12 runs 122 miles east through Dixie National Forest, Bryce Canyon National Park, past Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument and ends in Torrey. Over rivers and sandstone bluffs, through forests and tunnels cut through mountains."

"Scenic" is an understatement.  This is one of the prettiest drives I have ever taken.  Around every curve there is something more beautiful.  This highway runs a long way, through Grand Staircase Escalante, but these photos were taken about 20 miles west of Bryce Canyon National Park.

This bristlecone is at the Red Canyon Visitor Center.

This is the highway's bike lane.  Now, THIS is how a bike lane should be.   It is completely separated from the street, and I love the yellow line on it.  It provides great safety for bike riders because they are not in the street with auto traffic.  I love it!
